Introduction
Evangelical Formosan Church of South Florida
The Evangelical Formosan Church, Inc. was founded in Los Angeles, California in 1970 by Taiwanese-speaking Christian families. Over the decades, EFC has grown into a registered nonprofit church organization with more than 150 gospel locations across four continents and ten countries or regions. EFCSF is a member church of the EFC family and shares its nonprofit gospel mission.
In 1990, as the number of Taiwanese-speaking believers in South Florida increased, four Christian families began Bible study by phone with Pastor Shu-Hui Chou in Los Angeles. As the fellowship grew in number and spiritual passion, it developed into a regular mission church. Counting from those first gatherings in 1990, EFCSF is 36 years old in 2026. In 1994, EFCSF became an independently operating church and joined the EFC General Assembly as a member church.
Our Faith
Statement of Faith
The following summary is based on the EFC General Assembly Statement of Faith and serves as EFCSF's shared foundation for faith and ministry.
Scripture
We believe the Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God and the highest rule for faith, life, and ministry.
The Triune God
We believe in one living and eternal God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, equal in honor and glory, Creator and Lord of all.
Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, incarnate, crucified for sinners, risen from the dead, exalted, and returning.
Sin and Grace
We believe humanity was created in God's image yet separated from God by sin; salvation is wholly by God's grace through faith in Christ.
Redemption and New Life
We believe Christ is the only mediator; believers are justified, born again, sanctified by the Spirit, and called to love God and neighbor.
The Church
We believe the church is the body of Christ, made up of true believers who worship, receive the sacraments, fellowship, serve, and witness.
Conscience and Freedom
We believe God alone is Lord of the conscience, and believers are responsible to God according to the truth of Scripture.
Final Hope
We believe Christ will personally return, the dead will be raised, God will judge, and believers will share eternal life in the new creation.

We believe God created male and female and established marriage and family; the church walks with people in truth, grace, healing, and peace.
